VMI policy for foreign citizens
To be able to legally reside on the territory of the Russian Federation, foreigners must comply with certain rules. In particular, they must have a package of documents on hand. Among them is a valid VHI policy for foreign citizens. The updated rules have been adopted since 2021 and will soon become legal.
When applying for a job, a foreigner is faced with the need to draw up a job specification. The issuance of this form is not possible without contacting the regional division of the Federal Migration Service. A copy of the VHI policy for foreign citizens is also attached to the standard package of applications. The insurance contract is traditionally concluded for 12 months, after which it should be extended.
When a policy is needed
Back in 2015, changes were made to the legislation, according to which the voluntary medical insurance policy for foreigners in St. Petersburg and other cities became a mandatory document. At the beginning of 2021, the next changes should take place, according to which the VHI policy is equated to compulsory medical insurance. Foreign guests are offered to purchase a policy on the day of crossing the Russian border. Otherwise, being on Russian soil will be illegal. It does not matter whether a foreigner is a tourist or has arrived for the purpose of further employment.
Additional features
What additional opportunities does voluntary medical insurance for foreign citizens give migrants? The procedure for drawing up a contract has become mandatory for foreign citizens. The certificate allows you to visit medical institutions free of charge, receive qualified medical care, including emergency. Depending on the amount of insurance, the volume of services provided also differs. Significant changes have taken place in the field of medical compensation over the past three years. The minimum coverage amount has been adjusted, and new eligibility rules have been established.
Penalties
Since 2016, foreigners have been fined for not having a health insurance policy. Violation can be detected during the verification of documents. Control authorities do not always catch migrants in the complete absence of insurance. Sometimes their voluntary medical insurance for foreigners implies a coverage amount below the designated minimum. This fact is also equated to an administrative offense. This deviation from the norm is punishable in accordance with the current Russian legislation. In the absence of a full-fledged certificate that meets the current rules, a foreigner is entitled to a fine in the amount of 2 to 7 thousand rubles. If the violation is detected once, then the controlling authority will be limited to an administrative fine. If the mistake is made again within a year, then a ban on entry into Russian territory will be established for the foreigner. This rule is reflected in the Law on Administrative Offenses.
Apply VHI for a foreign citizen
Modern health insurance allows the issuance of an individual and collective policy. Before making a voluntary medical insurance policy for a foreign citizen, it is important to understand that individual insurance has two varieties - through the employer and personal. A foreigner or an employee can send an appeal to any insurance company that deals with the conclusion of relevant contracts. Employers who value their staff usually take care of all organizational issues. This is not difficult, since many agencies provide similar services. The policy can also be purchased online.
