Our company receives a huge number of questions related to the renewal of registration for residents of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Therefore, in this article we would like to dwell on the question: is it mandatory to issue a voluntary medical insurance policy for the extension of temporary registration to citizens of the EAEU.
Rumor has it that to extend migration registration from citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia from November 1 will require a voluntary medical insurance policy.
Is this so?
To date, there has been no official confirmation from government agencies on this issue. But as they say, there is no smoke without fire.
According to the law, clause 5 of article 27 of the Federal Law No. 114, all foreign citizens, regardless of the purpose of their arrival in Russia, are required to apply for a voluntary health insurance policy from the first day in Russia.
Eurasian Union citizens have an advantage over other visa-free foreigners. Thanks to the amendments to Law No. 158n of Art. 2. Clause 9.1, it became possible to draw up a compulsory medical insurance policy.
To date, inspectors in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast do not require medical insurance from foreigners when renewing registration. While on patrol, police officers can check for health insurance. In his absence, a foreign citizen may face an administrative fine. Therefore, protect yourself - apply for VHI in advance!
